I’ve found the perfect house for both my business and my living and at the moment I am very busy trying to find a way to buy it. So I am not sewing much this week. I am dealing with the bank, selling some things and making plans.

No shampoo update

You may wonder whatever happened to my no shampoo venture. I haven’t written anymore about it because I only stuck to the method a week or so, then I was sceduled to meet some people who I had not seen in a couple of years and I didn’t feel as confident about it anymore. At the beginning of this method the scalp still produces as much oil as it did when the oil was washed away frequently by the shampoo, and it takes a while before the skin gets in tune with the new method. I ran out of conditioner about the same time and I had a heavy load of bills to pay at the end of last month so I’ve been using shampoo only through a couple of weeks which has been devestating for my hair, and a few days ago I bought a good conditioner and I’m back on track again. It’s raining

It’s raining! We need the rain. I hope the canoe trip tomorrow will be accompanied by blue skies though. But we need the rain. It’s been so dry the last few weeks, even the branches of the trees hang like dry rags. This is a very sensitive period for a lot of plants and we need a lot of rain now the next few days so that we get wild strawberries and blueberries.

I decided a while ago that this weblog is going to contain only things that I like to be reminded of. Positive things. There is going to be a positive atmosphere here. To a lot of people decadence is not a positive thing though, and I am going to show some decadence, but only from the positive angle that I see it. One thing that inspires me very much is old and abandoned houses. They stand like sculptures in the midst of the wild. A symbol of where the real power in this world rests. I like abandoned old cars too – rusty with holes in the floor where plants grow into them. It is quite amazing to walk into one of those abandoned cars or houses and find a reminder of one person who was there long ago. Feels like stepping into a time machine. As I walked through a friend’s garden yesterday I found an interesting detail. It was a rusty ball that hung on a birch by the gate and I realized right away that it’s a lantern, and I told her it’s wonderful and she said she got two of them for nothing in a second hand store because nobody wanted to buy something that was rusty. I know there is an uprising trend with rusty garden decorations – but ofcourse to me they have to be real and useful things. Old things do not necessarily have to be abandoned though. The ulitmate is when something old is used over and over again – sometimes for different purposes than it was manufactured for. A table cloth may become part of a dress. To imitate the ways of nature. That is how a lot of species survive.
